Three 8th grade math teamers (Ann Carol, Ben and Brooke) made the top 5 in the North Alabama Region (Cullman, Calhoun, Madison, Lauderdale, St. Clair, Jackson and Colbert Counties) on the ALA-LA-MISS test taken in February. Outstanding! The 8th grade team placed 2nd regionally by a narrow 3 point margin and 5th in the tri-state contest.
Mallory Johnson took the 3rd place spot in the North Alabama region and 15th in the tri-state competition. The 7th grade team placed 8th in tri-state and 3rd in North Alabama behind Challenger and Muscle Shoals. It was a very close contest. Great effort!
Ann Carol, Ben, Brooke and Mallory will be recognized on Awards Day along with the teams.

Great Day at GACS!
Our trip to Greater Atlanta Christian School proved to be a good one! We visited the Georgia Aquarium on Friday which was amazing. The Dolphin Tales show was exciting as well as all the exhibits.
On Saturday, the 8th grade team placed 1st and the 7th grade team placed second. However, the ciphering points were not added to the 7th grade score, so MAYBE we placed 1st. I'll get back with you on that one.
A huge thank you to our very supportive parents for meeting us there. By the end of the day, there were well over 30 parents and siblings. The CMS math teams travel well. I cannot thank our math mom chaperones enough for all your help. It was a fun weekend. Also, thanks to the Pruitts for bringing our drinks along and for always helping our teams out. Thank you to Mr. Pruitt for contacting the Georgia Aquarium for us. It was definitely one of the best places we have visited.

Hoover Highlights 2013
What another fantastic day for the CMS math teams. I could not be more proud of the hard work put forth these last couple of weeks. The 8th grade took first place with a cushion of 94 points. You all continue to work just as hard as you did the first tourament and it has paid off. Great job by Ann Carol, Mitchell, Callie and Katie ciphering today with an impressive 62 points (3rd overall out of 31 teams). We have two more touranments to reach our goal of 70.
Fantastic job by the 7th grade. We will work toward finishing strong at GACS and Berry. The 7th grade had seven individual awards (super) and the 8th grade had five. Congrats to Conner, Cameron and Sam on their first trophies of the year. The entire team is improving each and every tournament. We placed 2nd in ciphering - good job by Trevor, Jordan , Eli and Sam. You all were 6th overall in ciphering out of 27 teams. Nice job today!
Thanks to our parents for helping us fill up an entire section of bleachers! Your encouragement and just being there to support us means so much. Thanks for the goody bags Mrs. Lowery, Mrs. Cottingham and Mrs. Ray. The M & M cookies were a big hit!
STIX was a lot of fun again. I appreciate your good behavior. Only a few broken eggs and some flying shrimp, but all is well.
See you all for our 5th and 6th grade tournament next week. Much to do next week. There will be 28 schools and 500 students on campus Saturday, March 9.
We off to GACS on March 15 and 16. Leave at 7 am on the 15th. Can't wait.
