Math Camp 2011

7th Grade Math Camp 2011 was a great success.  We met from 9 - 12, played games, ate pizza, learned new concepts and enjoyed getting to know each other via the name game.  We had 22 of 25 at camp which is terrific for summer.  Hope you all enjoy the water bottles and stickers.  Thank you Mrs. Stevens for printing them for us.

The concepts covered included roots, exponents, solving equations, probability, positive and negative integers, sequences, etc.  We will cover these again beginning in August.  I appreciate the 8th graders so much for introducing the concepts.  There is a list of websites for practice on the Summer Math Packet.  Be sure to be ready to turn in the summer math packet on the first day of school.

Our morning practices will be on Thursday and Fridays from 7:00 - 7:40 am.  We will have breakfast together.  I will send out a breakfast schedule when school starts.  Everyone will just have to bring breakfast twice a semester.  Our first tournaments should be at Wallace State in October, then Cedar Ridge in November and Vestavia Hills in December.

There will be a parent meeting on August 29 at 6:30 pm in the library.  This is a tentative date.

Thank you for allowing your child to come to camp.  We had a great time.  I am looking for terrific things from this group.  I will have shirts ready for them when school starts.  I did not get all the forms back and am working on getting those.

See you all on August 11 at 5 pm for Open House.

Happy Summer,
Mrs. Sellers
