Stellar Day at Vestavia!
What a STELLAR day at the Vestavia Hills Math Tournament for the 7th and 8th grade math teams. Both teams had their best tournament of the year. The 7th grade placed 2nd by only 5 points (one question). I am so proud of the hard work by the 7th grade. By the time Pizitz gets here on Feb. 2, I would bet this team will come away with their first FIRST place trophy. They also won the ciphering competition 145-115 against Muscle Shoals. Such improvement since Muscle Shoals and what about Julien's 2nd place trophy. Great job!
The 8th graders had their very BEST day in the two years that they have been competing. Looking at all those thirteen names on the wall was so exciting. Your hard work in class, on Monday afternoons and at home make all the difference. What you do at home is just as important as what you do in class and I know you realize that now. You are 3-0 and the sky is the limit for Pizitz, Albertville, Hoover, GACS and Berry. Congratulations to Kate and Victoria for their first trophies of the year. Great job by ALL!
Congrats to Anna Carol (10th) and Katie (15th) for placing on the mental math test. It was tough competition. They placed in the top 15 out of 285 students. Nice job!
Johnny Manziel talked about the 12th man in his Heisman speech. Our parents are definitely our 12th man on Saturdays. It is so nice to look around and see the many, many parents (30 out of 42 students represented today) and siblings at the awards ceremony. You all are one of the main reasons for our success. Thanks for your encouragement to me and to your child to do their very best. Thanks to Mrs. Fillinger, Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. Seymore for the very nice goody bags. A great day of math and fun today!
